Coquette at Kettner’s Champagne Bar, Soho, 9th April, 2011
That was then…
5th April, 2011
Shhhh…we have a little secret for you…
We are pleased to present to you, “Coquette” at Kettner’s champagne bar in Soho!
The talk of the London vintage scene, the utterly fabulous Tart at 40 Winks is back, with a new name, a new location and even more exciting than ever! The existing Tart parties for ladies had outgrown Mr Carter’s wonderful boutique hotel, 40 Winks. After a suitably glamorous makeover, the iconic Kettner’s champagne bar in London’s Soho was chosen to carry on the wonderful Tart traditions, with an apt new name, “Coquette.”
This is a “must do” event for all ladies who love vintage, and who love “naughty self indulgence, seductive style and decadent pampering”. There is so much to delight you, and your every whim is catered for, from fashion, jewellery, hair and make-up, to classes on “The Art of Kissing,” “Cocktail Making Masterclass,” and “Ten Ways to Make Him Fall For You,” - the list goes on! Mr Carter engages only the finest in their fields to bring you these beautiful little treats.
All this “fabulousness” can be tiring, so throughout the afternoon, lovely cakes, chocolates and cocktails are served. And of course, being in a champagne bar, it would be impolite not to partake of this lovely liquid refreshment! A goody bag accompanies each attendee home, and a special prize is being given by Benefit Cosmetics.
Coquette is launched on this Saturday, 9th April, in London’s Soho.

Welcome to the House of Coquette!
A wonderful afternoon was had by all at Mr Carter's Coquette. The event filled the fabulous Kettner's champagne bar in London's Soho. Eight rooms, including “The Room of Coquettish Couture Temptations,” “The Room of Beauty and Transformation,” and the “Room of Promise and Prophecy” took over all but the champagne bar (but fear not, champagne was pouring freely throughout the establishment).
It's a difficult job, but someone had to test out all the lovely treats on offer. I did my best! Catch some of the highlights on video here, and watch out for more Coquette in June and beyond. It's a definite "do" for all you lovely ladies.
The video includes:
The wonderful Mr Carter introduces the fabulous Lana Citron who imparts her considerable knowledge on the Art of Kissing.
Lovely Lisa, head make-up artist at Benefit Cosmetics shares some top tips on skincare.
Absolutely fabulous and beautiful lingerie brand, Fred & Ginger, is introduced by owner and creative director, Victoria.
Katherine Elizabeth Millinery's Sophie shows some amazing couture creations. Check out the award winning Mat Hatter's Couture parties in conjunction with Benefit Cosmetics.
Rebecca at Stop Traffic Clothing shows a range of wonderful dresses - all fabulously vintage inspired - from day to evening. Rebecca stocks some hard to find US cult brands.
Lipstick and Curls, specialists in vintage styling, show you how they do it! These ladies count the fabulous and famous amongst their clientele.
The wonderfully vivacious Hazel at Rag & Bow shows you through her pop-up dressing room of wonderful vintage finds, specially hand picked by the lady herself. Do you want to be unique? Say hello to Hazel!
The Shellac Sisters, spinners of 78s, perform a swing dance with My Paul Crook.
Any finally…Pimms anyone? Kettner's very own master mixologist Brendan Stegmann shows you how it's done. Mmmm, yummy!
This is K, signing off, job well done!
